What do you say after Hello? “Attraversiamo”

I chose Saturday to share my thoughts with you. Maybe because I’ve always had this special connection with Saturdays and her quiet, blissful mornings, when we’re dusting off the stress of the week while inviting in our beds a cup of coffee and a good book. For me Saturdays brought back a zest for life. They were (and still are) the best days for renewal and counting the blessings of the week, while planning what’s next.

On Saturdays I made all the good gestures of self-healing and the lists of “how I was gonna pamper myself” after 5 working days. 🙂

I wanted to make this 2nd blog a practical one. As we are getting to know each other in this space we’re co-creating, it’s important to also decorate it with kind thoughts and colours and practical, supporting advice.

After all, Saturdays are times when we breathe deeper and smile more often.

So with no further ado, today I am sharing with you a couple of information and techniques that you can test and apply for cleansing, restoration and regeneration of the mind, body (and why not, the soul), while navigating between the working weeks.

yoga and relaxation

This moment is a breath

You are here because you breathe. You read this because you breathe. You smile because you breathe. You take space because you breathe. And you are because you breathe. This intangible, almost magical function of our bodies is our gateway to this world. From the first inhalation to our last exhalation, life is a collection of precious breaths. But we’re living a hectic time with an attention span lower than 2 seconds and we often forget to inhale-exhale properly. Breath is the perfect, free tool to regulate our nervous system, reduce inflammation and balance our social triggers and reactions. Just as you, I need to practice this breathing thing so that my body is healthy and centred.

Here is a short practice I do almost every morning (or evening before going to bed): sit in a comfortable seat so that your spine is vertical and straight. Try to get away from your laptop or phone and noise. Close gently your eyes and feel your hands, put one on the belly (the centre of life) and the other one on the heart (the centre of health). Now find your breath, breathe normally for a couple of minutes. Then prolong your inhale and exhale so that you breathe in for 4-5 seconds and breathe out for 6-7 seconds. Stick with it for a couple of minutes. Return to your normal breath, open your eyes softly and thank your body for being the miracle that she is. Smile. Nervous system (and vagus nerve) regulated and ready to face the day. It’s simple, right?

Until next week, breathe, breathe, breathe!

With love, Roxana.
