We’re here. We’ve made it! After the end of 2025 and quite a destructive sometimes, foggy start of 2026, we’ve reached the point of real, active beginnings.
The month of April is here (I know, it’s mid month this essay reaches you, but Mars in Aries is quite fresh in the energies), and it’s in these particular last 2 weeks anchored by the start of May that we have the full swing and support of all planets being direct and most of them being part of the most important Aries activation of the year (and probably of the decade ahead).
I feel though like the pressure of April will dismantle any resistance we might still be having towards a chapter we’ve yet to uncover, unravel and co-design with the Universe. As much as I’m excited for me and you, at the same time I’m also a bit unsettled. Will we be able to extract what is important from the horizons we are being given?
This month and May also will bring all sorts of possibilities for us. But are they all things we need to grab? Do we have the interior space and ability to capture it all? The intelligence of noticing what matters most and what’s for us will help us make the difference between what’s ideally exciting and what’s truly possible.
Every time I feel like there’s too much around, I tend to dive in more within. I take the Via Negativa, that of simplicity through removal of the non-essential.
April is more about the signals than the full story.
“We cannot explain everything. We know more about what something is not than what something is. If there would have been no word for colour blue, it would still have existed in reality. It would only have been absent in linguistics. But since we don’t have a word for it, we couldn’t define or comprehend it. But we still could say what it is not. It is not orange. It’s not an elephant, etc. This method of knowledge is truer and more rigorous than positive knowledge.”
— Nassim Nicholas Taleb
Via negativa is according to certain philosophical and theological traditions, this almost counterintuitive process by which clarity is achieved through the patient removal of what obscures definition.
To see what something is, one must notice first what it isn’t.
The concept of via negativa originates in apophatic theology, the early Christian mystical traditions which sought to approach the divine by acknowledging that language, however subtle, however poetic, however rigorously constructed, inevitably introduces limitations upon what it attempts to describe, and therefore the most honest approach to ultimate reality consists not in multiplying descriptions but in refining negations: God is not finite, not confined, not reducible to categories that belong to the human imagination; and in this careful removal of conceptual boundaries, something vast begins to appear, not as an object but as a horizon.
Therefore what is it to be done with the energy of anything is possible, all at once, that we experience in this mighty April?
Curate your interiority and simplify your pursuits to the bare essentials.
You will not be able to be everywhere, everything to everyone, all the time. You are asked to be YOU. You are asked to identify that which brings you the most fulfilment, excitement and aliveness. To know who you are is now a bit less important than knowing who you aren’t. And to pinpoint this, you must start to … experience and interact with life and the possible.
The complexity and effervescence of this month is real. Staying grounded in your own truth is the key now. We will not notice the intervals between happenings, because yes…we will not have them.
Approaching the energies of April through the filter of via negativa means:
- Choose simplicity over complexity. Remove the complications in any conversation, idea, interaction. Stop building layers of meaning just to get comfortable with decisions. Simplicity means the intelligence of knowing how to optimise your life, day by day.
- Cultivate your inner knowing and rely on the truth of your most ardent desires. You can’t want all things in the same way, the intensity will vary.
- Embark on a path to self-discovery, which might lead you to unknown and uncharted shores. Be comfortable with sudden changes, revelations, restrictions and redirections. Be open to re-routing, because not even the Universe knows exactly what it’s being created right now. Cultivate an attitude of experiment. Ask more questions than give answers or solutions. Those who will stay curious will navigate through this uncertainty with fewer hardships.
- Refine your interaction with the external environments. To curate your external life needs inner simplicity and maturation. Seek the meaning, not the overdoing of things.
- Find mirrors you can rely on. You are changing, therefore the energies around you will mirror this new inner dynamic. There will be changes in your own surroundings, friendships, business collaborations and emotional partnerships. It’s OK to experience them.
- Life will refuse you where you need to be refused. Just pay attention.
- Courage is the leap of faith required by the first step. Surround yourself with examples and models of people and situations that made it against all odds.
- Space requires subtraction from being everywhere. Speak less. Explain less. Be less available for others and more present for you. Performative behaviour, often leading to victimhood and attention grabbing is not a good route now. Stability starts within you and continues with what you do based on your own forces now. As a good friend of mine says, the time for manifesting while meditating has ended. Now we must go to the pantry of the Universe and choose the ingredients we need to cook an original recipe. Via Negativa does not mean rejecting the world, but rather recalibrate how you engage with it. Refine your attention span and become more selective, intentional.
- Any new endeavour needs pauses. For integration. Knowing when to do these pauses for integration will make the difference on the long term. Respect your inner, feminine rythm. It is of course easier to do this when you can simplify and reduce. Taking on a via negativa approach means you will be able to bring back the necessary intervals for breathing, understanding, changing, perfecting and…noticing.
- Simplification never stops. Life now offers us too many options and distractions from the essential. Reducing each day to what’s needed to create one’s authentic path is and will be a long-term process.
Rising to the occasions now will be easier if we stop carrying layers of complexity. This almost ascetic way of looking at the world gives way to mental clarity and being able to essentialize. We’ve been trained to accumulate knowledge, experiences, relations, objectives met and life trophies. We’ve become manifestations of accumulations and complex architectures hiding our essence.
